The Coat Maker Series: Dots and Stripes

I love to play with polka dots! For the layout of the many polka dot fabrics I used a design inspired by quilter Sarah Bond's great-grandmother, Anna Gibson Bond. I saw Sarah's quilt in Upstate New York and it spoke to me. I loved how her ancestor, Anna, designed the quilt. It was in rows of rectangles. I created a grid and set up my fabrics in the coat in the same pattern as her great-grandmother’s quilt. I appliqued dots where she had a fabric with dots and added the sashing—Note the double-stacked buttons.
